We took Charlotte outside to play in the icy terrain a couple of weeks ago.
(The temperature is supposed to hit 60 tomorrow!)
Exploring the frozen tundra.
Busy bee loved it.
She did not love coming back inside.

We got dessert when we went to Angelina's yesterday:
Their usual dessert is greek yogurt with honey and walnuts. Today they had just received some turmeric from a local farm that they candied... so it was greek yogurt, honey, walnuts, and candied turmeric. Wow.
Another picture with my big beautiful tomato that is slated for (hopefully!) tomorrow's falafel meal.

If I had to describe my past few days in two words, I would choose whiny and stubborn.

On Tuesday night I could feel myself getting sick. That familiar, cloudy-headed feeling was creeping up on me. I went to bed, expecting to wake up sick. Wednesday morning came and I felt pretty bad. Still, I got up, went to a talk by a colleague, went to class, then resigned myself to the idea of working all afternoon. By about 2PM I gave up- I felt poorly and went home to sleep.

Wednesday at about 5 I decided that I had to make the palak paneer I had planned to make. I made the paneer on Sunday, so I thought that it would be a simple enough process. The results? Fairly simple, yes. But it was time-consuming and it produced a lot of dirty dishes. A preview:
The Indian food was yummy. I went to bed that night hoping that I would wake up feeling better. Instead this cold had me completely knocked out. Thursdays are normally my days to spend home with Charlotte, but I barely budged from the couch all day. Instead of making the planned falafel, I bought Taco Bell and took another nap.

Today has been more of my whining and feeling bad. Micah has been really good putting up with me, especially considering he is getting the same cold. He either has a more mild version of it or he just tolerates being sick better than me. I vote both.

To cheer us up we went on a little mini-date this afternoon to my favorite local restaurant, Angelina's Kitchen. It was insanely delicious, as always. I was especially delighted to see that they had fresh, locally grown tomatoes there! If I ever feel well enough to make my falafel, I will be able to serve pita with falafel, cucumber sauce, and fresh tomato. Yummmmmmm. That is a good motivator to cook tomorrow.

I am going to go cuddle up on the couch and hope to get over my cold.
