Micah and Christine

plus three

I am listening to the pitter patter of sleet hitting our skylight. My evening class was cancelled today, which meant that I gained a couple of hours of time. What a cool present! Don't you love getting TIME when you least expect it? What have I done with my time?

  • Shopped at Target. I picked up a few little things on sale for a couple of friends having little boys soon.  Also, after taking one last look at the secondhand shops, I purchased a booster seat. I found this one. The colors kind of go with our dining room, so that's a plus.
  • Wrote a post about our dining area...

Last week I took a look at the schedule for the upcoming week and realized just how insane it is going to be. My job at school requires me to help coordinate and attend a couple of special meetings every month, and both of this month's meetings fall next week.  I will get home at 8PM Monday-Thursday. Add that on top of the online class I teach starting tomorrow, and I'm feeling a bit stressed.

Of course when my schedule is this busy it makes for a hard week for the whole family. Micah has a big deadline this week, and Charlotte has lots of playing to do. When I'm confronted with this type of week I find my best defense is to be really organized. So we've carefully planned who will watch Charlotte when, and I am planning and cooking meals today. I have to eat 8 meals away from home this week, and I'm determined to not eat out. Fast food makes me poor and fat.

So here's the menu plan for today through Saturday!

Breakfasts:
  • Cheerios
  • Oatmeal with yogurt
Lunches:
  • Leftover pizza (We ordered pizza for a babysitter last night and she didn't eat much of it!)
  • Wraps- turkey and monterey jack on whole grain pita
  • Salads- mixed greens, tomatoes, Newman's light Honey Mustard
  • Last of the Baba Ghanoush with bread
  • Annie's mac and cheese
Dinners:
Snacks:
  • Jello
  • String cheese
  • Craisins
  • Apples
Today was pretty big- today my kid sat on her potty. Was she fully clothed? Sure. Was she paying more attention to the necklace she was wearing than the potty itself? Probably. But my lovely, strong-willed daughter sat on the potty that she has run screaming from every time it has entered her sight in the last few months.

In honor of this momentous occasion, I have been reflecting back on diapering her. I mean, she will be out of diapers in a couple of days now, right? (Ha. Ha ha ha. Ha. )

So here we go, part one of a two or three part series on our experience diapering our first kid.
