I have rejoined the ranks of those with mostly-clean living rooms and kitchens. Now is not the time to ask about the rest of the rooms. :) That is one of the things about having a small-ish house without a garage- I have no good place to stash stuff. I know that in a perfect world I would have no need to stash things, but in my real life, there are times when I wish that I had a little more space. (and less stuff... that's the one I can actually do something about right now.)
So, we own a small-ish house. To give you an idea, it's a 3-bedroom, 2 bath home, with about 1450 square feet. Whenever I'm thinking reasonably, this seems like a fine amount of space for the three people who live there. Exhibit A: Check out the size of homes being built between 1950 and 1970.
I will admit it, our house does seem small at times. We live here, Micah and I often work from home, and Charlotte takes up a lot of space for a little person. So, it is always awesome when we can find better use for our space. Which is why my husband is building me a closet. Yay! We will finally have a closet for us to hang coats in! And store routers and servers in! I think Micah will post on this later, but for the time being, just know that it is awesome.
So, rather than spending more time figuring out how to clean/organize/fix up small projects in order to have my house showroom ready next Spring for sale, I have been looking at real estate on the internet. Because THAT is the best use of my time.
And so I came to fall in love with a bank-owned, very distressed, 3100- square foot home in an awesome neighborhood. This is funny for a variety of reasons.
- We have vowed to NOT get a fixer-upper for our next house.
- We are not moving for about a year.
- Our current house needs a lot of work to get it ready to sell.
- We don't even have our house on the market yet.
- We don't actually know where we will be moving!!!
But after reading about others' fireplace and home makeovers, like this awesome one on YHL, it gives me ideas. Crazy ideas. I mean, doesn't that family room have potential?
Okay, strange rant is over. You can go back to your normal lives.

Since we returned home nearly a week ago I have cooked several meals. Unfortunately, I have been doing so without the aid of my CSA veggies. My farmer has had some issues on her farm with sick animals and hasn't been able to attend the farmer's markets from the last week. While that is inconvenient, it also really humanizes this experience for me. It's a real person who is growing and bringing those veggies to me.

We had Charlotte's birthday party last weekend and it was fun. I am SOOO grateful that so many of Charlie's family were able to attend.

Being home is nice. Despite missing dear friends and family in Indiana, there is something particularly wonderful about sleeping in my own bed again. My bed is soooooo comfy.
We have been home for nearly 48 hours. So far I've managed to ignore a majority of the laundry, dishes, and cleaning that are screaming my name. Here's what I've been doing instead:
