Contrary to how Christine makes it sound, I'm not just sitting around and drinking cappuccinos all day. The reason we are in San Francisco is that I have a summer internship at Dolby Labs.
I am working on Axon- Dolby's voice chat system. There is lots of software that lets you do voice chat over the internet, but Axon uses surround sound to make it sound like you are in the same room with the person you are chatting with. This is mostly for games, to make the other player's voices match the game world.
And after a bit of a wait, here are some pictures of San Francisco. This first is taken from the Land's End trail that Christine talked about. The Golden Gate bridge is about 2.5 miles away.
This one is from a park on Potrero Hill. In the distance is the Bay Bridge.
When we were telling friends and family about our plans for the summer, I was surprised by the number of people who asked what I was going to be doing. I told people that I would be doing what I want to do when I grow up... be a stay at home Mom. :) You might be asking yourself, what does Christine do besides dress her daughter up as Steve Jobs? Here is a brief overview of one of our days.
We got up this morning, earlier than I would have liked. With all of the moving around and lack of consistency, Charlotte's sleep schedule has been rather out of whack, meaning I get less sleep. Anyway, we got up, ate breakfast, and played around the house.
After a nap, and then lunch, I put Charlotte in the Mei Tai to get ready to leave. I have always loved this thing, but now that we live on a 45 degree (?) hill, using a stroller is impractical for most trips. Charlotte gets really excited when I dangle the straps, signaling that it's almost time to leave.
So then we walked a few blocks over to the Potrero Hill branch library. (Potrero Hill is our neighborhood.) The library just underwent a multi-million dollar complete renovation. It is small, but really fancy and nice. There is an incredible view of the city from the back window.
Taken across the street from the library.
Micah gets cappuccinos every day at his work, and I was really tired today, so I decided to stop across the street on the way home at the Thinker's Cafe. Charlotte and I shared a multi-grain-biscuit-pastry-thing and I had a coffee. Then we were off for the walk home. The walk home has a really steep hill, so we just took it slow.
Once home, I did dishes. No dishwasher here! Only one sink basin, too. Aren't you supposed to have two sink basins to wash dishes? Oh well.
The colors are a little off, but those are my gorgeous PURPLE gloves.
huh?
...and boom
Christine dressed her like this- I had nothing to do with it.
And for those who don't know what this is about.
