Phew. The semester is officially over! I am so grateful to be standing on the other side of my first year as a full-time PhD student.
When I first decided to leave my job as a math instructor to go back to school, I was so excited about the opportunity to work from home. While it has been true that I've been able to work from home a lot, I've also worked A LOT. School and work are all-consuming. This year has not been an easy one, but I can say that I love school. I love learning all of this new stuff. And I love that once I get through it all and finish this PhD I'm going to have some really interesting professional opportunities.
But all of that long-term stuff aside, I am now officially starting Summer. During the hectic schedule we've maintained for the past 9 months, I have had many projects that I put off, saying I would do them over the Summer. Well, now that that far-off Summer is officially here, here is a portion of the household To-Do list.
- Cut Charlotte's hair
- Organize my baking supplies
- Organize and purge my spices
- Re-organize my kitchen cabinets
- Paint 7 doors in my house
- Install and paint some trim
- Paint a ceiling
- Landscaping
- Clean out our shed
- Clean out our screened porch
- Pretty up the screened porch
- Plan and install storage for our kitchen closet
- Plan and install living room closet storage
- Re-organize and purge master bedroom closet
- Plan and do Master Bath remodel
- Install new lighting and fix ceiling in the hall bath
- Install new lights in our living room
- Clean and organize office
- Sell some furniture on Craig's List
- Purge books and get rid of dining room bookshelves
- Find a new entryway rug
- Paint exterior of the house
I'm sure I'm forgetting things. Part of me wants to have this whole list done before Jeremy and Sarah arrive in 3 days. (hahahahahaha) I will be lucky to get maybe two of those things done on top of the regular cleaning and getting ready for company stuff. But that's ok, I've got the whole summer, right?
