Micah and Christine

plus three

I have gotten so behind on updating y'all on our meals around here! I’m really spoiled by my husband borrowing a fancy new camera that he enjoys using... it lets me pretend I am making superstar food. FoodNetwork, here I come. :)

Lots of food after the jump.

Some of the most interesting meals and recipes from the last few weeks:

Reubens- No recipe, I was just in the mood for reubens one day and we made them.

Basil tomato tart
I am such a fan of the savory tarts... I just need to master the crust, then I will be really happy to have tarts in my regular recipe rotation.

Broccoli cream soup with hawaiin bread
This was a nice base recipe. I like cheese in my broccoli soup, so I think next time I may melt cheese into the flour paste stovetop mixture. Also, the recipe calls for pureeing the soup, and I just mashed the veggies with a potato masher. I liked the chunky texture, Micah not so much, so I'll have to figure out a compromise for future batches.

Burgers and fried food

We had friends Anish and Zhimin over for dinner and had a great time. Micah made burgers on the grill and we broke out the deep fryer. We fried frozen onion rings and hush puppies... yummy!

Caramelized onions and prosciutto pizza
LOVED this. Followed the recipe exactly. I need to be careful with Pioneer Woman recipes... I could make those decadent things all day.

Pasta with pancetta and leeks
Micah really liked this one, but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. There was white wine in the sauce... that might have been the problem for me.

Lasagna, garlic bread, seaweed salad, deep-fried twinkies

This was another fun meal with friends over. Micah made a really tasty lasagna. Zhimin brought over seaweed salad, and we finished the meal by making deep-fried twinkies. Those deep-fried twinkies were actually really, really awesome.

After posting about all of that food, I'm hungry. 'Till next time!
