Micah and Christine

Like Christine, I'm posting books that I'm reading. I just finished The Search for the Giant Squid, by Richard Ellis. The editing seemed a little unpolished at times, but it was certainly informed and clear, an excellent introduction to recent work in teuthology.

The book was first published in 1998, so it's missing some recent developments, like the pictures and videos of giant squid, as well as the whole Colossal squid vs. Giant squid debate that is raging. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading it and recommend it to anyone interested in the history of Giant squid studies.

I wanted another fun and interesting book to read and happened upon a cheap copy of The Lord of the Rings at a garage sale. So that is what I'm reading now.

I've read The Hobbit many times, but I've only read LOTR once. This time, I plan on taking it slow and really trying to get a feel for the world Tolkien created. So, I'm taking lots of time reading the maps and figuring out where everyone is going.

I'm also going to try reading the exciting parts more slowly. This is something I have problems with, because, well, I get excited when reading stories and want to find out what happens! So I read fast and probably miss a little bit of the details. Hopefully, since I already know what happens, I can read it more carefully this time around.
