It is interesting living in someone else's home long term.
This is our temporary home.
Living in this little 600 square foot apartment is fine, but it doesn't feel like home. I feel like nesting, decorating, creating... part of it is because I am living in a space where I can't do much. Maybe another part is knowing my sisters in law are pregnant and making all kind of pretty things. :)
This summer I have more time on my hands than at any other point in the year, yet there is no way for me to work on projects at home. I have blankets to make for others, a shawl to make for Charlie, an apron as a gift... And those are just the craft projects. On the house I have several painting jobs to do, some serious organizing, room re-arranging, and outfitting and painting a little girl's room. This little girl, in fact:
Since I can't work on my projects sitting thousands of miles from my home, I will be content to look for inspiration and plan those little projects. Some of the things I have found:
This little house is simply adorable. It's a few blocks from where we live.

This picture is taken from the kitchen. On the left you can just barely see the door to our bedroom. The french doors straight ahead lead to a little balcony. Just to the left of those doors is the door to Charlotte's room. In the close right corner, you can see Charlotte in her craigslist high chair, and one of the chairs for our dining area. The majority of the picture is the living room, where we spend most of our time.

So in the next three pictures I just wanted to share three design blogs I found while searching for ideas.
The first is Aubrey and Lindsay's Little House blog. I really like this blog because it's just a couple of people, probably around Micah and my age, re-doing their home. The basement remodel is really impressive. I like their style, and they just had a baby a month ago, so I like looking at their nursery.
The second is decorology. This blog regularly features different homes with different styles. So many of them have white walls, but they are all unique and really attractive. This dining room is so pretty, though I'm not sure I could pull off painted chairs like those.
Finally, a fun little blog called Ikea Hacker. This blog features furniture from Ikea, redone to suit people's needs. It is a really fun place to see how cheap DIY'ers decorate.
