Micah and Christine

plus three

Today we went to Dynamo Donut. Located just off Potrero Avenue, Dynamo is known for its unique selection of donuts. While they weren't that busy when we arrived, by the time we left, people queuing outside for donuts.

Dynamo's yeast donuts have a light texture, Christine says it's like Krispy Kreme. The ones we bought were only glazed on the top, unlike most donuts. Here are the donuts we had:

Lemon Thyme

The glaze on the Lemon Thyme has a strong citrus flavor and the thyme adds a hint of spice to the taste. While I thought the lemon flavor came across too strong, Christine enjoyed pairing the donut with milk to mellow the flavor.

Chocolate Rosemary Almond

This was a denser, cake donut. The dough has a very rich chocolate taste. We both thought the chocolate overpowered the more subtle spice and nuts. The dense cake and rich chocolate flavor surprised both of us, but after a couple bites we found ourselves liking the taste.

Maple Glazed Bacon Apple

The signature Dynamo donut, this thing is very yummy! For both of us, this was the first donut that paired sweet with salty. We both liked the taste, but I missed the maple and apple- maybe lost to my very chocolate milk.

Dynamo's menu rotates, so we will try something new next time. Fortunately, the bacon donut is available every day! These are the best donuts we've had in San Francisco, and the unique ingredients make them worth the walk.

The donuts were breakfast before heading to a couple garage sales in our neighborhood. We found lots of doggies for Charlotte to look at and we picked up some kitchen stuff, books, and an iMac G4! The owner didn't think it still worked, so it was cheap. After carrying it up and down hills for a couple blocks, we got it back home where it seemed to turn on fine.

That's a Mac SE we found for cheap. Aquarium?

I'll install Leopard on it next week and probably use this instead of my tiny netbook for checking mail and programming over the summer. Then I'll ::sniff:: sell it when it's time to go back to North Carolina.
