Micah and Christine

plus three

We arrived yesterday after a long, long day of travel.

Micah and I woke up at 4:45AM after about 2 hours of sleep. Our first flight was from Indy to Minneapolis. It went really well because Charlotte slept for almost the entire flight. In fact, there was a bunch of college aviation students flying with us, and they commented that Charlotte was the quietest baby they had ever heard on a flight.

Our short layover in Minneapolis was eventful because we decided to buy pizza. We were sitting at an empty gate two places down from ours, to give Charlotte a place to stay. As we were taking bathroom breaks before the flight, we heard them paging Micah Taylor to the gate immediately. It was 25 minutes prior to takeoff, but the flight was completely boarded and waiting on us! That was truly bizarre, and of course nerve-wracking running to the gate.

The Minneapolis to San Francisco flight was long- about four hours. Considering the circumstances, Charlotte did well. She looked out the window, ate the exciting snacks we brought to distract her, and played with the diaper bag full of toys we brought. The trip was also made exciting by a large number of Japanese passengers, who delighted in waving to Charlotte and making her clap. Still, the long flight took its toll- Charlotte had a couple of screaming fits where we couldn't do anything. Yep- we were THOSE parents. Still, we all survived.

When we arrived in San Francisco, we gathered up our 4 pieces of luggage, 3 additional bags, car seat, and stroller and went in search of the car rental. We took the train on the airport campus over to the rental car center. Even with a prepaid reservation, we had to stand in line and it took around 45 minutes just to get the car.

So far San Francisco seems to be incredibly busy, rushed, and loud. We drove around just trying to find simple fast food, but it is impossible to find parking. I never would have thought that I would so desperately want to see a chain store. Micah and I drove around, dreaming of chains and actual parking lots.

Finally we decided to go Target. It was a Target experience unlike anything I have experienced before- and I consider myself a Target expert. This place was PACKED. The parking lot had tiny spots. Everyone was in an insane hurry.

Then we went and looked at the place where we think we will be staying from June 1st to the end of our stay, then checked in at our place for the week.

Today Charlotte and I have played and I have done my orientations for my online classes. Micah is at his first day of work. I can't wait to hear about it!

Once I figure out where the cord is, I will post some pictures.
