Since we returned home nearly a week ago I have cooked several meals. Unfortunately, I have been doing so without the aid of my CSA veggies. My farmer has had some issues on her farm with sick animals and hasn't been able to attend the farmer's markets from the last week. While that is inconvenient, it also really humanizes this experience for me. It's a real person who is growing and bringing those veggies to me.
So, I've made do without veggies for the past few days and look forward to hopefully getting some more tonight! I did buy tomatoes, italian bread, and a goat cheese spread last week from the farmer's market. I also got my meat CSA share. Wow- I don't cook very much meat. I really have a backlog of meat in the freezer.
Tomato mozzarella sandwiches
This is seriously one of my favorite summertime meals...
Toast some bread. Slice tomatoes and salt them. Layer tomato, sliced fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil on the sandwich. Drizzle with some balsamic vinegar. Yummmmm.
Ravioli with real marinara sauce, bread with goat cheese serendipity
Purchased ravioli. Marinara sauce adapted from this recipe my SIL shared with me forever ago.
Peel and dice three large tomatoes, set aside. Mince 4 garlic cloves and cook them in a medium saucepan with a little olive oil. Add tomatoes and some salt and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes. Add chopped parsley, basil, and oregano (all growing from my own pots!) and simmer a minute longer. Serve over pasta.
Swedish meatballs, smashed potatoes, and lingonberry sauce
I thought I should bring a little Ikea home...
Swedish meatball recipe from the Joy of Cooking cookbook. Smashed potatoes from a variety of small potatoes, lingonberry sauce from a jar. This meal was AWESOME, and a great way to use ground beef and pork from the CSA.
New York Times Chocolate Chip Cookies
Really good. Really dangerous to have in the house.
Recipe here, found via Cate's blog. My only comment was that this was a really firm dough, and I did not enjoy shaping it into golfballs after it had been in the fridge for a couple of days. I think next time I would shape the dough into balls before refrigeration.

Mmmmm... Great mouthwatering post. It's a good thing I already ate lunch today, or I'd be eating my computer monitor. :)

What a crazy coincidence! The funny thing is that the first time I even tried that recipe was last week. Now everyone go to Sarah's blog and read about what she used her marinara sauce for!
