Micah and Christine

plus three

I've been thinking about this question quite a bit lately. Because time is a precious commodity, right? So why do I take time out of my week to blog? Posts don't write themselves, pictures don't edit themselves, websites built from the ground up don't code themselves.

So here are the reasons I choose to blog, in no particular order:
  • Blogging has become a hobby I enjoy. If it wasn't fun for me, I would not make time to do this.
  • It's a great way to keep our family and friends involved in our lives, even at a distance. With family over 600 miles away, this is one small way for us to keep in touch with them and let them have a window into the day-to-day in our little home.
  • It chronicles our daily lives in a way that I wouldn't otherwise keep track of it. I was never much for journaling, and I am definitely not a scrapbooker. So this website is a way to look back on our lives.
  • It chronicles my other hobby, cooking. Having favorite recipes and cooking experiences on the website keeps them all in one place for me. I can more easily search and find those recipes when I think of them again.
  • Family bonding time Micah and I do the website together- he handles all of the coding for the site. He also takes pictures of my food for me. (The pictures that look good tend to be his, the ones that look only ok tend to be mine.) We spend time together talking about the layout of the website and ways we would like to improve it in the future. He also blogs from time to time.
  • Networking/ meeting other people I haven't done this as much, but having a web presence allows me to have conversations with other bloggers. It's fun to share experiences with other people.
  • It is a platform for me to speak about issues I care about. I'm a science museum evangelist, if you couldn't tell.
